Flight Test Museum Online Junior Test Pilot Program
Class
This program is designed for students to learn about the science, engineering, technology, and math used in flight test at Edwards AFB, Plant 42, and the Antelope Valley of California the home of the Air Force Flight Test Center.
Here is the class outline:
1. Aerospace Professional InterviewsThroughout the summer, we will be collecting questions from our students for professionals in aerospace including engineers, test pilots, AF pilots, flight test physiologists, and astronauts. In this section, we will collect our interviews. |
2. MISSION: Flight Test and Edwards/BBAPWelcome to the JTPS! In this mission, you will learn a little about why Edwards was chosen to be the home of the Air Force Flight Test Center and find out what a test pilot does. |
3. Mission: FLIGHTIn this module you will learn about how the wings of an airplane work with air pressure and the thrust of an engine or propeller to overcome the forces of gravity! |
4. Mission: Jet Engines & MACH SpeedThis is a fun module that will help you learn more about the force of gravity, jet engines, and MACH speed. |
5. Mission: STEALTHIn this mission you will learn about stealth technology and the B2 bomber. Begin with the introduction to the lesson and work your way through the mission activities. Successfully complete the mission debrief at the end to receive your certificate on Stealth Technology! |
6. Mission: ALTITUDEYour mission is to explore how altitude affects flight and how high airplanes fly and why. |
7. Mission: PAYLOADLearn how the shape of the wings, engines, and fuselage of an airplane affect what it can carry. Think like an engineer about aircraft design! |
8. Mission: MANEUVERABILITYExplore how different aircraft move, what the purposes are, and how they are moved by instrumentation. |
